I love this photograph… ‘Dali Atomicus’ is a collaboration between Salvador Dali and photographer Phillipe Halsman, and explores the idea of suspension. The process of creating this photo fascinates me. It took twenty-eight attempts to achieve the result they wanted. This required assistants throwing the cats and buckets of water from one side on the count of three, and Dali jumping on count four. After each shot, they would have to calm down the cats, clean the floor and anything else that had got, sometimes even Dali himself. Amazing.
